February 29, 2024

If you’re planning your summer holiday and could do without the misery of delayed flights, lost luggage and disappointing hotel rooms, this is the blog post for you!

As fellow campervan fans, we all know the feeling of freedom that comes with jumping into the van and escaping to the most beautiful parts of the UK with everything you need with you.

If you’re stuck for inspiration, or looking for your next destination, we’ve picked some excellent spots to take the van and enjoy the fresh air and views.

  1. North York Moors National Park, Yorkshire: This park offers a tranquil and relaxing break away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The Moors are home to many picturesque villages, incredible views and beautiful beaches all ripe for exploring. Head to the North York Moors site for more info about parking.
  2. North Coast 500, Scotland: This 516-mile route is putting Scotland on the van life map for all of the right reasons. It takes in some of the most incredible sights that Scotland has to offer winding through beautiful countryside, quaint villages and areas of outstanding beauty slightly off the beaten track. Do your research before you go as some of those roads can be tricky!
  3. Coast 200, The Lake District: Cumbria’s coastline is a treasure trove of natural beauty, stretching from the Solway Firth in the north to Morecambe Bay in the south. The 200-mile Cumbrian Coastal Route is split into smaller sections that can be completed in a day, but to truly experience the area, you could easily fill a few days in each section, especially as 2024 is the “Year of the Coast”
  4. The Cornish Riviera, Cornwall: The south coast of Cornwall around St Austell has been affectionately named the ‘Cornish Riviera’ due to its lush landscape, sheltered coves, and tranquil, clear waters that can feel like a world away from the hustle and bustle of England. Tiny towns and villages provide gorgeous pitstops to refuel, relax and recharge along this famous piece of coastline.
  5. Forest Of Dean, The Cotswolds: If you prefer trees to seas, this ancient forest is a great place to park up and explore the local area. Chocolate box villages, the winding River Wye and plenty of walking trails make it the perfect place to explore. Bring your paddle boards, walking boots and binoculars to truely enjoy the area.
  6. Tollymore Forest, Northern Ireland: This beautiful forest is home to a variety of wildlife and offers a tranquil and relaxing break away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Located at the foot of the Mourne Mountains, spans almost 630 hectares and offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Make your way down to the Shimna River, magnificent Himalayan cedars and even a Hermitage!
  7. The Lizard National Reserve, Devon: This beautiful reserve is home to a variety of wildlife and offers a tranquil and relaxing break away from the hustle and bustle of city life. It is a great place to park up and explore the local area.
  8. Snowdonia/Eryri, Wales: Home to Wales’ largest lake Llyn Tegid, the 3000ft mountain Yr Wyddfa and the breathtaking valley of Ogwen, Snowdonia is not to be missed.  Foaming waterfalls, vast green valleys, ancient marshes, wild river streams and the sea all await you!
